Bring your children and grandchildren and a camera for a Easter hunt in the playground next to the sanctuary. There will be also section just for toddlers and young children.

EASTER CELEBRATION SERVICE - 11am Sunday, April 20th. Invite your family and friends for this joyous celebration of communion. In all the excitement, please don’t forget that we will be accepting the One Great Hour of Sharing, (so kids bring your fish banks back to church!) also, you are invited to bring canned goods and donations for the hungry!

Welcome! Olivia Genevieve Cone  - born April 4, 2014 at 12:04 am!! She weighed in at 7 pounds, 9 ounces. 20.25 inches. Blonde hair, blue grey eyes. Stubborn like her mother. Jen and Olivia are well but exhausted and John is a proud new daddy. They could REALLY use some meals NOW. Jennifer does not eat pork or red meat, but chicken and vegetarian fare would be fantastic!  They have also asked that instead of baby gifts, to please give a gift in honor of their daughter to FPCNO.

Worship Service, March 23, 2014, Sermon: “Water in the Wilderness of Sin” Rev. Fred J. Powell III

We remember Persian New Year today - "Norooz" means renewal and rebirth and marks not only the change from Winter to Spring but also symbolizes the change in life and relationships. During our fellowship time after worship today we will celebrate with our Iranian brothers and sisters this festival and thank Dariush, Kourosh and Sarah for the refreshments!

A Bridal Shower Luncheon for Amie Benson will take place today after worship in the Fellowship Hall. All First Presbyterian ladies (members and friends!) are invited."

Worship Service, February 23, 2014, Sermon: “This Old House” Guest Preacher: Rev. Kathleen Crighton

This Sunday, we welcome Rev. Kathleen Crighton as our guest minister this morning. Kathy grew up at First, where she served as a Ruling Elder, and is now a retired PC(USA) Teaching Elder (Minister of Word and Sacrament). She is married to Richard Tatum, who recently joined the church. They live uptown with three cats – Little Bit, ’Teebie, and Sweetie–and Gabby the dog, who was a sheep in the FPCNO Christmas pageant in December.

Pastor Fred is riding in the King Arthur Parade  float #17 "the Blue Nile", neutral ground side on the upper level right smack in the middle of the float. Yell loud and he''ll t'row ya sum'pin good!

Peter Cho, will be riding in the Krewe of Alla, which is following Rev. Fred's Parade this Sunday. he will be on Float #20, the K&B float, neutral ground side, on the lower level, in the first three spots.

Kelly Lauro and Enjoli Mallary with “The Rouxlala” marching club, will be marching in the Sparta parade, Saturday, Feb 22, NYX parade Wed. Feb. 26 and Thoth parade Sunday, March 2. Give them a big SHOUT OUT from FPC.

Earn a Certificate in Ministry to the Sick from The McFarland Institute -The certificate in Ministry to the Sick is a course of study developed for clergy and laity who are responsible for meeting the care needs in the hospital setting. It is designed to strengthen the individual’s pastoral care skills. Classes will meet March 11, 25 and April 8 from 6pm to 9pm at First Presbyterian Church in the Fellowship Hall. For more info. New Member Classes - We will be offering a series of three classes, the first 3 Wednesday evenings in February (Wednesday, February 5, 12, 19, 2014) at 6.30. Supper will be served and you will learn what the Presbyterian Church believes, how the PCUSA works and what makes First Presbyterian Church different from  your run of the mill PCUSA church. Attending the classes does not obligate you to join, but First Presbyterian is growing and this is your chance to find your place in the life and work of this church!
