Join us for shared commemorative fellowship as we recognize the 10th Anniversary of Katrina and the Levee Failures. All are welcome! This event is open to all whether you lived here before Katrina or not; whether you flooded or not, or whether you mourn what we've lost, or celebrate what we've gained. The event will focus on the resilience of First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans and its members. By being together, we join our individual strengths to form an unbreakable bond that will lift us up in spirit and in love. Worship on Sunday, August 30 will have moved from Lament for what was, to a celebration of what is becoming…and a few fun surprises are in store.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

Youth Gathering - Dear Parents and Youth Leaders, My name is Tracy Rene Helms-Capasso and I am from First Presbyterian Church in New Orleans. "l have a dream" of forming a greater New Orleans youth fellowship with you. I am excited about doing this because I know my youth group involvement was very helpful to me as a teenager.  I have a date and time for a first gathering and hope you will help me spread the word to as many youth and their parents as you can.

  • Saturday, August 8 from 1-4 pool party located at 754 Florida Blvd, New Orleans 70124

Here is what I have been envisioning thus far: using the themes from this year of Camp Agape, Montreat and MO Ranch. To grow spiritually, meeting regularly for support, connection and putting on God's armor, doing fun things, doing service things, learning how we can take opportunities to further God's Kingdom. Hope you will add your ideas to these, and at the pool party I will ask the youth.

Please send this message out to youth and parents and copy me so I can follow progress. Also this is all the contact information I have for you so please send phone numbers. If you are not able to help with this effort but know someone who is please give me information to contact him/her.

I am hoping there will be youth from each of these summer conferences who can come to this event and we can begin to flesh out these themes for everyone. Alex Pappas I know you attended two and could you help me gather as much information on them as possible. Contact the youth from those events and tell them about August 8.

Blessings to you all and thanks for your consideration of this matter,

A.D.: THE BIBLE CONTINUES on NBC - Sunday, May 24 at 5:30pm will be the second series and we will be gathering at the home of David and Tracy Renee’ Capasso at 7715 Nelson Street, N.O. for film and fellowship, on five consecutive Sunday evenings in different homes to watch and discuss “A.D. The Bible Continues” The story of the Apostles after the resurrection of Christ. The immediate aftermath of Christ's death and resurrection had a massive impact on his disciples, his mother, Mary, and key political and religious leaders of the era, events that would completely alter the entire world in a few centuries. The story of the apostles continues to have a direct and parallel impact on us, in the way that we are the gathering of Christians in the world trying to find our way forward, in our lives, and in our church.

ECOrecycling--an easy way to give to FPCNO! - The FUNdraising Committee of First Pres is starting a recycling fundraiser! There’s nothing to buy (isn't that awesome!). We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used consumer electronics and unwanted, broken or mismatched jewelry. Your used item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations. 100% of the proceeds will help fund First Pres. We will be collecting the following items: Cell Phones, Ink Jet Printer Cartridges, Laptops and Netbooks, iPads and Tablets, iPods, Digital Cameras, Metals (Gold, Silver and Platinum--not costume jewelry). So start cleaning out those drawers and closets! Your recyclables might help First Pres!

Goodsearch.com is a website powered by Yahoo - that serves as a search domain for charities.  If you use this website and designate First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans, we will get compensated for every search that takes place. If you're able to set Goodsearch.com as your home page, you’ll start using it regularly, and FPCNO will benefit from it! Don’t forget to add it to your phone, home computer and other mobile devices. You can also shop with Goodshop.com or the Goodshop App, and for every purchase, a percentage will go to the church. Every little bit helps. And Goodsearch tracks how much we have earned at the top left of the page, so check it out!   Thanks, Your FUNdraising Committee
