We are saddened and shocked by the flooding that has ravaged our beloved Presbytery. We have lived through severe flooding, and our hearts ache for everyone that has been touched by the rising water. As we read in the scripture yesterday about the "great cloud of witnesses" we are here with you, celebrating the rescues and mourning the losses of homes and property, lifting up the rescuers in prayer and wanting to help. As the days go on, we will be seeking more concrete actions as our Presbytery begins to rebuild.
We offer our thanks and gratitude to General Presbyter, Rev. Dr. Ron Sutto for preaching and serving communion yesterday when the floodwaters prevented our previously scheduled pulpit supply, the Rev. John Blewitt from Baton Rouge from being able to attend. We are praying for him and his family.
RHINO is collecting cleaning supplies, trash bags, gloves (latex or work gloves), snacks, water bottles, moving boxes, and packing tape so that when we send crews to help with cleaning out flooded homes, we have the tools to make it happen. Any of those supplies can be dropped off at St. Charles Avenue Presbyterian Church.
