Ordination and Installation of New Officers Sunday, July 17, 2016.
Deacons News - The Deacons are resurrecting an old FPC tradition- Salt-and-Pepper Dinners, a monthly potluck meal in member’s homes. We will be kicking off this fellowship with an end of the summer pool party hosted by Nicole and Hoy Hughes at their home, 211 Rue Landry, St. Rose, La. on Saturday August 13 at 3pm.
- September dinner will be hosted by Justin Wood.
- October dinner will be hosted by Linda Wilson.
- November TBA,
- December will be our annual Bell Caroling followed by Christmas party at the Capassos. Please mark your calendar!
News from the Worship Committee
- Hymn of the Month - The purple hymnals are a terrific resource full of new songs, and we want to start singing some of them! We have a plan to help familiarize the congregation with new hymns. We are beginning Hymn of the month program. During worship the new-to-us-hymn will be played as the prelude or other interlude music as often as it fits in. One week the choir will sing the hymn as the anthem, inviting the congregation to sing along aka a "congregational anthem." The following week the hymn will be featured as one of the standard 3 hymns during the service. Then we plan for that hymn will be ready for a more regular inclusion in worship.Our first Hymn of the Month is an easy one- you might already know it but you have not heard it at FPCNO!Somebody’s Knocking at Your Door, hymn #728
Special Sunday Services
- On July 24th we will have a timely service structured around readings from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s "Letter from a Birmingham Jail" which discusses racial inequality and social activism.
- On the fifth Sunday of the month, July 31, we will have a summer hymn sing service. Please email hymn recommendations to Claire at mclairetrimble@gmail.com.

- MONDAY, JULY 18th, 6:30pm – Building and Grounds meeting.
- TUESDAY, JULY 19th, 6:00pm – Men’s Night - The Men of the Church will be taking a break and going to play mini golf at City Park. We'll be meeting at 7pm at City Park Putt course clubhouse (8 Victory Drive). See you there.
