The Passion of Christ: A New Orleans Musical!!

Fox Broadcasting will host this national broadcast on air live from Waldenberg Park in New Orleans on Palm Sunday evening, March 20, 2016 8-10 PM. Hosted and narrated by New Orleans native, Tyler Perry, it will tell the story of the last hours of Jesus Christ, featuring a cast of top entertainers performing popular tunes arranged by music producer Adam Anders (Glee, Rock of Ages.) Set in modern day, The Passion will follow Jesus as he presides over the Last Supper, betrayed by Judas, put on trial by Pontius Pilate, convicted, crucified and resurrected. The story will be performed live on stage at the Mississippi River, while featuring a procession of hundreds of people carrying a 20-foot, illuminated cross from the Superdome to the live stage at Waldenberg Park. First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans has been invited to have a tent at Waldenberg also.

Would you like to help stage the Passion? "The Passion of Christ: the Musical" (which Fox is broadcasting live from New Orleans on March 20th) has a pressing need for some volunteers, to carry the enormous cross that will be used during the production. Carrying a 20 foot, 650-pound cross through the streets of New Orleans from the Superdome to Waldenberg Park is quite an undertaking. They are looking for 100 volunteers to walk the route, taking turns carrying the cross. If you are available to help on March 20, contact Pastor Fred Powell. They are also seeking short (filmed) interviews with people from all kinds of backgrounds, beliefs, ages, and races to represent New Orleans. They are interested in people who have a powerful story and who have a very personal reason for walking in the procession.
