worship bulletin - Sunday, April 19, 2015 - Sermon “Lame Excuses”, Rev. Fred J. Powell, III

HI EVERYONE

Let me start off with the most exciting news: In just 24 hours, our Go Fund Me has been issued a CHALLENGE! A generous donor has put up $4,000 (YES, $4,000) but...they want to see this amount matched! Make (and stretch) your donations now so that we can quickly show that their gift is inspiring others to contribute in amounts that make sense to them. Let's add up the gifts to match the $4,000! Give now!

Also, SHARE NOW! Sites like Go Fund Me are based on viral spread. That means you can and should share the links w/ friends and family - near and FAR! Post it to any social media site you use. If anyone wants to make a donation but does not want to use the site, please have the contact me - I can post their donation as an offline donation and they can make arrangements to send a check, etc.

BITE THE TAIL OFF HOMELESSNESS Saturday, May 18, 4 pm to 8 pm (rain or shine) Lakeview Presbyterian Church located at 5914 Canal Boulevard, New Orleans, is gearing up for their 6th annual crawfish boil which is a charity fundraiser benefitting the Program of Hope here at First Pres. All of the funds raised go to the purchase of overnight housing vouchers from the Salvation Army for distribution to homeless individuals. The tickets are $15 which includes a hefty amount of crawfish, potatoes and corn, and beverage! You can buy tickets from the Church Office—Diane Kleinfeldt or Fred Powell or email LakeviewPresbyterian@Lpcno.org for more info.

ECOrecycling-- an easy way to give to FPCNO! The FUNdraising Committee of First Pres is starting a recycling fundraiser! There’s nothing to buy (isn't that awesome!). We are simply asking you to protect the environment by donating your used consumer electronics and unwanted, broken or mismatched jewelry. Your used item(s) may be tax deductible and will be recycled in accordance with EPA regulations. 100% of the proceeds will help fund First Pres. We will be collecting the following items: Cell Phones, Ink Jet Printer Cartridges, Laptops and Netbooks, iPads and Tablets, iPods, Digital Cameras, Metals (Gold, Silver and Platinum--not costume jewelry). So start cleaning out those drawers and closets! Your recyclables might help First Pres!

Goodsearch.com is a website powered by Yahoo that serves as a search domain for charities.  If you use this website and designate First Presbyterian Church of New Orleans, we will get compensated for every search that takes place. If you're able to set Goodsearch.com as your home page, you’ll start using it regularly, and FPCNO will benefit from it! Don’t forget to add it to your phone, home computer and other mobile devices. You can also shop with Goodshop.com or the Goodshop App, and for every purchase, a percentage will go to the church. Every little bit helps. And Goodsearch tracks how much we have earned at the top left of the page, so check it out!     Thanks, Your FUNdraising Committee
