'In 2015, churches (in the U.S.) spent almost $10 billion on energy and maintenance of our facilities, and only $1 billion on missions,' according to LIT’s founder Colby May. It’s a somewhat startling statistic, to which he has an answer. 'What if we could redirect 20-30 percent of that $10 billion back into the $1 billion?'

Quick trivia question: In which language was the first Bible in the Western Hemisphere printed? The answer is Algonquin—to be precise, the Natick dialect of Algonquin.

Today you can find a “Made in the U.S.A.” Bible in nearly every hotel room in America; most Gideon Bibles, for example, are printed in the Nashville area. But Bible publishing in the American Colonies was largely nonexistent.

오늘날 미국의 거의 모든 호텔 방에서 "Made in the U.S.A"성경을 찾을 수 있습니다.

Five years, 200 people, a bajillion emails and a whole lot of prayer. That’s what it takes to make a new Book of Common Worship (BCW). You might ask: Why do we need a new BCW? A changing church needs a worship book that reflects contemporary concerns and offers new liturgies, fresh language and a good deal of flexibility. The revised BCW will do just that, making room for new ways of being church while staying grounded in the best of Reformed and ecumenical practices.

General Assembly Stated Clerk J. Herbert Nelson, II, was among many who offered tribute to the Reverend Michael Lukens at a retirement party in his honor. Lukens is concluding his service as stated clerk of the Presbytery of Winnebago after forty-eight years in the post. His retirement is official December 31, 2017.

“Your connection to an era of the United Presbyterian Church in the United States of America during a time when William P. Thompson served as Stated Clerk of the denomination is both iconic and legendary,” Nelson told Lukens on the eve of the December 2 celebration at Heritage Hill State Park in Green Bay, Wisconsin, referring to Lukens’ lengthy and probably record-breaking tenure.

<한국어><Espaňol> Every Christmas day of my growing-up years was spent at my grandparents’ house in San Juan Bautista, California. Imagine thirty or so relatives laughing, eating, joking, and hugging in a little two-bedroom, wood-frame home. The kids rambled from the living room, with its stately, boxy television, to the dining area, to the always-busy kitchen, presided over by my grandmother, out the enclosed back porch, across the driveway, through the barn, and into the back field where my grandfather was keeping watch over the smoked pork, with my dad and uncles keeping him company. And then back again from the back field, through the barn, across the driveway, onto the back porch, through the still-busy kitchen, passing the dining area, and into the living room.
