worship - September 17, 2017 Sermon: “Pray Like This” Rev. Kim Rodrigue

This Sunday, September 17 after worship we will have the “WHO DAT “ GAME DAY in the Fellowship Hall. You are welcome to come join us to watch the game and cheer the Saints on to victory. If you plan to attend PLEASE bring a dish to share.  See You Sunday!

Resources used for Sunday, September 17 worship service include: www.pilgrimwr.unitingchurch.org.au; Book of Common Worship, and www.ucc.org/worship/worship-ways.

We have begun a series of sermons in which we will be exploring the different phrases in the Lord's Prayer. Our worship will be complemented by the singing and praying of some different versions of the Prayer.  If you, or someone you know, has been struggling with whether prayer is relevant in a turbulent time like our own, or how to pray in meaningful ways, or how to make a difference in the world, or what faith has to do with contemporary struggles, these sermons may speak to your concerns.

PASTOR KIM AROUND TOWN

One of my commitments in my weekly work schedule is to have some set hours at a place outside the church building. Sometimes people are more comfortable talking with a pastor outside of the walls of a church. It may be a time for you to drop by or to bring a friend to visit. You don't have to have a particular need to stop by, but it is fine if you do.

It’s a time for conversation on anything from personal matters to church concerns to world peace – or anything else.

It is also a good way for me to meet people who aren't already in the church, but who may have interest in issues of spirituality and meaning. I will be your face in the community when I do this. You can join me for coffee Tuesday mornings or drinks this Thursday evening.

Pastor Kim’s coffee & beer hours:

  • Tuesday, September 19 – 7-9am                    Rue De La Course                          (S. Carrollton & Oak St.)
  • Thursday, September 21 – 5-7pm                         Oak                                         (8118 Oak Street)

I will be at the church Thursday afternoon from 2-4 for anyone who wants to drop by. I'm glad to meet with you at another time, either at the church or someone else. Just call 504-866-7409 or email me at kim@fpcno.org to set up a time.

Cheryl is on vacation this week. Thank you to all whom have volunteered for office duty.

Pastor Kim will be out of the office this Wednesday, September 20 for a family funeral.
