New Orleans folk-rockers Hurray for the Riff Raff recorded parts of "Small Town Heroes," its February debut for the Dave Matthews-founded A.T.O. Records label, inside the First Presbyterian Church on Claiborne Avenue at Jefferson in New Orleans.
On Jazz Fest's second Friday, May 2, the night of the band's Fair Grounds set, they return to the space's lovely acoustics for an intimate, acoustic show. Also on the bill are the Deslondes, the honky-tonk rock band led by former Hurray for the Riff Raff guitarist Sam Doores, plus the Como Mamas, three motherly gospel singers from the small town of Como, Miss.
Doors open at 8 p.m. Friday, May 2, at the First Presbyterian Church (5401 S. Claiborne Ave.) Tickets are on sale at brownpapertickets.com.
